In the 2012 adaptation of Frank Miller's seminal comic, Bruce Wayne has stopped fighting crime as his alter-ego, Batman, for 10 years before stepping out of the shadows to take down the Mutant Gang and their leader. However, Batman's decision to come back isn't without it's consequences, as his arch-enemy The Joker wages a one-man war against the Batman to break his one rule and the President of the United States calls in Superman for assistance.
